Ukraine president: Compromise w/Russia req referendum

I was thinking about this the other day. Ukraine is being hit very hard. They are fighting so hard but suffering. At what point do people ask for compromise when your loved ones are dead or missing? How much loss can you take? How long can you as a leader keep asking them to fight? It's a really tough spot to be in as a leader. You want to maintain your country but you must ask your people to sacrifice. Should that be totally up to one person in times of war? I agree it's very noble to consider a referendum. God I hope Zelensky survives. I hope Ukraine can hold on and rebuild.
