The US has some issues, boy. The other countries of the world seem to have it together as far as gun control policies go. The US has the highest rate of firearm homicide in the world. I don't know if that includes countries actively at war, but I dunno - I haven't studied that in depth. Most childhood deaths are caused by guns in the US. Not diabetes, not accidents (unless you include guns), not car crashes. Guns. There are more guns in the US right now than there are people. Kinda weird. Not sure if there's a way to curb the bloodlust or balance minds, because there are so many sides to this - but I'd like to hear your take: Why do the US folks love their guns? Is it fear? Is it a sense of ownership? Is it because having one makes you feel stronger? And on that note - what about other countries with lax gun control laws? Why haven't they spun out of control? Welcome your thoughts. Edited to add: Some CNN research for tax: www.cnn.com/2021/11/26/world/us-gun-culture-world-comparison-intl-cmd/index.html

Takes longer to stab multiple children and teachers.

Takes longer to stab multiple children and teachers. I'm for banning certain types of guns. We know, if given the opportunity, weapons can be made out of nearly anything, and that includes glass guns, plastic guns, etc. But it's interesting that even with the plans on creating a gun that can go through airport security circulating online, people haven't taken up the plastic call enmass. maybe it's due to convenience and price; if you can go to the corner store and get a candy bar *and* a gun, then there's something wrong (IMO). I'm ok with guns for hunting. Most countries have that. But I don't see a lot of nations quibbling over semi-automatics or "not-quite-semi-automatics-but-they-do-the-same-thing" weapons as being outlawed in the general public. I think most countries see the value of protecting their citizens over hardware, but hey. I just live here. I had another idea, though: let them keep their guns, but make the bullets so ridiculously expensive that only the rich can buy them. Or, you can purchase one bullet for your semi-automatic for $1000.00. Or just outlaw certain bullets. 'Course, then people will start beating each other with them, but you'd still have to get close enough to do damage. I keep seeing people's slogans that more guns will make people safer...but I don't see it. I do see a lot of ya-hoos holding guns up in the air during celebrations, forgetting that ol' principle that what goes up comes down. I also see a lot of road rage where shooting the driver who cut someone off as "justifiable." I very, VERY rarely see situations where guns solved an issue with someone who had murderous intent. That's so rare it's a Lifetime movie special. Anyway. I'm pro-gun control and pro-any bullets that fire faster than you can blink, outlawed.

America could do with taking a deep breath and rethinking it's attitude which fuels the gun culture. I doubt America is the world's worst when it comes to homicide by firearm although it's easy to think it. One of the problems with being a cultural empire is that the spot light shines a little harder at home.
It is odd though, the same country that doesn't believe in universal health care, believes in the right to shoot someone in the face.
Time for a recess and some self reflection.

There are more guns in the US right now than there are people. Kinda weird. That’s why they’re banning abortions. Hoping to even it out.
